R107 fire suppression for buses and ADR trucks

In the transport industry, safety is paramount, especially when dealing with hazardous materials and passenger transport. R107 fire suppression for buses and ADR trucks is crucial for ensuring the safety of these vehicles. These systems are specifically designed to detect and suppress fires quickly, prevent catastrophic damage, protect lives, and ensure compliance with stringent safety regulations. Protega Solutions offers state-of-the-art R107 fire suppression systems that meet the highest safety standards for passenger buses and ADR vehicles.

Why R107 Certification Matters

The R107 certification is a safety standard set by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) for fire suppression systems used in buses and coaches. It ensures that these systems meet rigorous performance criteria, providing reliable fire detection and suppression in the event of a fire. For ADR vehicles, which transport dangerous goods, R107 certification is essential as it guarantees that the fire suppression systems can handle high-risk scenarios. Compliance with R107 standards is not only a legal requirement but also a critical component of a comprehensive safety strategy for any transport company.

How Our Fire Suppression Systems Work

The Protega automatic R107 fire suppression system is designed to detect and extinguish fires quickly and efficiently, minimizing damage and ensuring safety. There are two types of systems:

Direct system

The direct fire suppression system detects a fire using the detection tube system. This heat-sensitive polymer tube is continuously pressurized with nitrogen and reacts to heat in conjunction with the radiant heat emitted by fire. Any flame that comes into contact with the detection tube will cause it to burst. This loss of pressure triggers the release of the extinguishing agent through the created opening.

Indirect system

The indirect system uses the detection tube to detect a fire. When the detection tube bursts due to radiant heat and pressure, it triggers the valve at the top of the suppression cylinder to open. This causes the extinguishing agent to be discharged through strategically placed nozzles into the protected environment.

Selection of Extinguishing Agents

Why We Use Specific Extinguishing Agents

Protega Solutions ensures that our fire suppression systems are suitable for the most common extinguishing agents such as water, powder, foam, water mist, and clean agents (extinguishing gases). Selecting the right extinguishing agent for the right application is crucial for effective fire suppression.

Tailoring the Extinguishing Agent to the Application

We choose the appropriate extinguishing agent based on the specific needs of each application. Factors such as the type of vehicle, the nature of the cargo, and the potential fire risks are considered to ensure optimal protection.

Proven Effectiveness of ABC Dry Chemical

As demonstrated by Rise in the SPCR tests (SPCR183, SPCR199, P-mark), ABC dry chemical is the only extinguishing agent that has been proven effective against all common (tested) fires in engine compartments of buses and other heavy equipment. This makes it a reliable choice for comprehensive fire protection in these high-risk environments.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1: What is the R107 certification, and why is it important?
